U.S. immigration counsel shaped by more than three decades of direct legal analysis, evidence development, and federal practice.
James Cohen has practiced immigration and federal law from Virginia since 1990, representing businesses, families, individuals, and refugees in U.S. immigration matters.
His experience includes hundreds of successfully completed immigration cases. His work focuses on applying the governing requirements to the client’s facts, developing the supporting record, and preparing a consistent filing.
Earlier in his career, James served as chief counsel to a United States Senate subcommittee and as an assistant to the Senate Majority Whip. His work now focuses on U.S. immigration strategy and case preparation for individuals, families, companies, employers, and professionals.
Every engagement begins by identifying the controlling legal standard, testing the facts against it, and deciding what evidence is actually needed. No case is accepted or presented as routine merely because a form exists.
Initial contact does not create an attorney-client relationship. Representation begins only after conflict review, case acceptance, and a signed engagement agreement.
